Sealine Beach in Mesaieed is one of the most popular public beaches in Qatar. I daresay it is even the most popular judging from the crowd it attracts during weekends.
Conveniently located less than 60 km south of Doha, Sealine Beach is a must-visit not just for expats and residents but even for those who are on a layover in Qatar. Families, friends, and bachelors usually head to this beach.
Is Sealine Beach free?
Yes, the public beach is free and there is no entrance fee required.
However, there is a resort in this area with the same name – Sealine Beach Resort and you have to book a stay to be able to use their private beach and facilities.
How to get to Sealine Beach?
There is currently no public transportation that goes from Doha to Sealine.
Most beachgoers take their own private transportation (sedan, SUV, or 4×4).
You can also opt to take the Doha Metro to Al Wakra and hail a taxi or Uber/Careem. Some also choose to hire limousines (usually unmarked ‘taxi’). Mowasalat/Karwa has buses that can take you to Mesaieed.
What to expect?
The first time I went to Sealine, it was a Friday and I was amazed at how there were so many cars parked along the beach. And because we were using a 4WD vehicle, we had to deflate our tires before heading to the sand dunes.
There are plenty of ATVs for rent as well if that is more up to your speed.
At the top of the dunes, you’ll have an overlooking view of the surrounding areas. The beach, the nearby resorts, and other establishments. Be careful though, as lots of inexperienced drivers get either stuck or accidents when driving on the dunes.
Sealine Beach is also a good stopover to and from the Inland Sea. If you haven’t been, it is worth a day trip or even an overnight trip to see this natural marvel.
What is the best time to visit Sealine Beach?
From our personal experience, the best time to go to Sealine Beach is during the early morning and late afternoon. The heat during the day might be too much for you so it’s best to avoid direct sun during that time.
The early morning (5 am to 8 am) is preferable while in the late afternoon, the hours of 4 pm to sunset are also nice.
Sealine Beach Activities

- Swimming
- Watersports – Jetski, kitesurfing
- Dune Bashing/Desert Safari
- Barbeque

Sealine Public Beach (Mesaieed)
As soon as you hit the last roundabout, you’ll be driving into the sand. This free public beach is open to everyone as such you can often see trash lying around.
There are vendors offering camel rides or photo ops with camels and falcons but do exercise caution when choosing.
Public toilets are zero to none and the closest you can go to is the mosque ladies’ toilet or drive to the nearest petrol station.
There are numerous restaurants, shops, and food kiosks around but you are free to also bring your own food. Just make sure to dispose of trash properly.
Beachgoers report jellyfish sightings during the summer. It’s hard to spot them though when you’re already in the water so you can use rash guards and swim leggings instead.

Sealine Sand Dunes
Overlooking the beach are the towering sand dunes which can get crowded with powerful 4×4 vehicles during the weekend. A ride through the dunes in one of the said vehicles will definitely make for a memorable ride although it can get dangerous.
You can also walk in the dunes but make sure you’re away from the vehicles.
If you’re dune bashing with your own vehicle, make sure that it is in top condition before heading to the desert.

Desert tours
There are plenty of desert tours available depending on how many hours you have. There are half-day to full-day tours and some offering overnight in the desert. Desert Safari Tours to Sealine Beach and dunes usually include a trip to the Inland Sea as well.

Doha Bus even offers Monster Bus off-road tours in 3 hours and 6 hours duration.
