Where to stay in Istanbul? Now, that’s a broad question! Simply, it all boils down to your preference and travel plans. But, if you’re looking for a unique accommodation in Beyoğlu, then I highly recommend Peradays Hotel. So why should you stay at this boutique hotel? Read on for my review of Peradays Hotel in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Turkey.
After Sultanahmet and Cappadocia, it was now time for us to explore the other side of Istanbul, starting with Beyoglu. And where better to stay than near Taksim but still away from the hustle and bustle. Not only did we find the peace that we were looking for, but we also found a slice of paradise in Peradays Hotel.
Peradays: Getting there and checking-in
Peradays is actually just walking distance from the very famous Istiklal Street and Taksim Square. But as we were coming from Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen airport from Cappadocia, we opted to take a cab from Taksim Square.
Also, Istanbul’s cobblestone streets can be quite unforgiving on luggage that’s why we also took the taxi. However, instead of taking a taxi through the Bitaksi app, we just hailed one from the street which was a mistake since the driver scammed us into not turning on the meter and charging us the double.
After getting down from the street, it was still a few feet’s walk to get to the entrance of Peradays. Since we arrived at night, we almost went passed the door of Peradays. It was a good thing they had a glass door and I already knew the interiors from Googling photos. However, I think there’s still room for improvement and they can maybe add a lighted signage outside.
Check-in was a breeze and we were immediately welcomed not just by one of the owners but also one of their resident cats. Tired from the flight, we headed to our room as soon as the check-in process was done.
Peradays: Where every room is unique
From the outside, Peradays may seem small. But what it lacks in size, it sure does makes up for in its personality and history. Unlike chain hotels and other accommodations, every room in Peradays is literally unique. No room is exactly alike and the owners planned it that way.
The building itself dates to around 19th century, lending not just a local feel to it, but historical as well. An Italian tailor to the Ottoman Palace and his family lived in the building and the three other buildings beside Peradays. Nowadays, the 6-storey building houses 9 individually decorated rooms, with the owners deciding on what layout works best depending on the size of the room.
The idiosyncratic design of the rooms can be classified as modern industrial, having a common theme of raw and unfinished yet modern chic at the same time. The owners didn’t stop with the look though. Peradays also uses energy saving products as well as the greywater system in the hotel.
The ground floor is where you’ll find the reception and the sitting area. This is also where the guests have their breakfast. The rooftop terrace offers a nice view of the neighborhood especially for those rooms without a balcony.
Our room: Superior Double Room with Brick Wall + balcony
Thanks to the hotel’s elevator, we didn’t have to carry our luggage up the stairs. Pera was adamant though, to escort us up and clearly knows which room we’ll stay in. It was funny trying not to let her inside.
What stood out when we got to our room, was not just the industrial style, but the glass wall of the toilet/shower overlooking the room. I actually liked it but for the more conservative, don’t worry there is a provided shower curtain. We also loved making use of the couch and of course, opening up the glass doors to the balcony.
Why you should stay at Peradays Hotel
Technically, with only 9 rooms, Peradays is only considered as a B&B/Inn. But if you don’t care for labels like me, then that shouldn’t deter you. And have I mentioned that it’s the number one rated B&B/Inn in Istanbul in Trip Advisor? Plus, they are a Travelers’ Choice 2017 Winner as well as a recipient of Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence.
But enough about accolades. Peradays’ urban setting is a good choice for travelers who want to be centrally located. The train, tram, and Tünel stations are walking distances and Istanbul’s mode of transportations are easy enough to navigate to get to the tourist destinations. Plus, lots and lots of food choices and nightlife in the historic Beyoglu area. And of course, shopping at Istiklal Caddesi!
If you’re an animal lover especially cats, then you’ll definitely feel right at home. Pera and Daisy will make you want to spend more time in the communal dining area. Their personalities are different from each other which makes it more fun trying to play with them.
Peradays also offers complimentary breakfast. And not just breakfast, but a big Turkish breakfast! We were so full by the end of it that it felt more like a brunch. The breakfast in our hotel in Sultanahmet paled in comparison. Loved that we get to eat eggs with sucuk again after our delightful food tour.
But what makes a stay memorable is how you feel right at home and the staff of Peradays certainly achieved that. The intimate atmosphere in Peradays is something you’ll miss once your vacation is over. The owners, who were workmates turned friends turned business partners, along with their team, will definitely make you feel like you’re staying with your Istanbul family.

February 13, 2018 at 11:51 pmWow, this place just oozes character! And that rooftop view is spectacular. I love that they didn’t go for a cookie cutter look and instead took the time to make each part unique.

February 13, 2018 at 5:16 pmIstanbul is one of my favorite cities. Peradays looks like a comfortable homestyle hotel – a home away from home. A good friend is planning a trip to Istanbul later this year. I’ll pass it on!

February 13, 2018 at 3:29 pmYou had me at the rooftop view but then I saw that breakfast! Now I’m hungry haha. I love finding tips like the Havatas bus. Airport transfers are some of the most frustrating parts of travel. Thanks for sharing.

February 11, 2018 at 9:29 pmI quite like the brick wall interiors of the hotel! Your story of being scammed by the taxi driver reminds me of our experience in Istanbul. We had the exactly same experience, the driver scammed us by not starting the meter and charged us double the amount, and did not even drop us at the right place! I guess Istanbul has several such stories about scamming taxi drivers. Your wonderful stay at Peradays Hotel seems to have made up for that experience though.

February 9, 2018 at 7:23 pmPeradays … paradise … It does not take much to figure it out 🙂 The raw finish does give it a different feel to the place. I also love your photos which seem to highlight the raw but modern concept. The filling breakfast is surely an understatement …

February 4, 2018 at 7:15 amYou had me at “resident cat” 🙂 This is exactly the kind of place I like to stay, small and unique, so you actually feel like you’re in a foreign country not just some chain hotel. Also that breakfast looks amazing!
