There may be a lot of types of cameras out there, with your smartphone’s camera being the most convenient to use almost everywhere. But action cameras have features that your point and shoot, SLR or smartphone camera don’t have. Action cameras are small, tough and simple. They are also designed to be strapped or attached to surfaces like helmets, bikes, cars, surfboards, and your body to name a few. They’re the best traveling buddy especially for adventure seekers who like to document their travels through photos and videos. And for those looking for an affordable and user-friendly action camera to start with, Supremo 1 Wi-Fi Action Camera is for you!
What’s in the Box

For charging, I just use my phone’s USB Power Adapter to charge the camera. I’m considering buying an external battery charger but haven’t decided yet which one to get. I have also tried charging the camera using my 10,000 mAh power bank.

Setting Up the Remote
I had no difficulty pairing the remote to the camera. I just followed the instructions on the User’s Guide and it worked. I pressed and held the B&C buttons even when I turned the camera on. I only let go of it when the LED lighted up. Just make sure that the wrist remote is fully charged as well as the camera. Take note though that the wrist remote is NOT waterproof! Although we wish it is. 😉
Using the Supremo 1 WiFi Action Camera
Unboxing was easy but my mom was more successful in taking it out of the mount than me. Hehe. Turning it on for the first time, I found it easy to use and navigate even having not read the user guide yet. That just proves that it’s really user-friendly, that my non-techie mom can easily operate it.
I like that the body of the camera has a textured finish, making it harder to scratch the surface in case you’re not using the waterproof casing. It’s very lightweight, as such you can carry it everywhere you go. The LCD screen is a really good feature, as I prefer to always preview the shot or the video afterward.
I haven’t used the WiFi feature as well as the cam app yet because of my phone. With my experience with GoPro, the battery of the camera and my phone drains faster if I use it through the app. Some people prefer the app though as it makes it easy for them to transfer the photos and videos to their social networking apps. I also prefer editing videos via my laptop and not via phone.
The wrist remote is enough for me, as I found it very easy to use. However, I prefer just holding the remote instead of using it while on my wrist. I found that holding the Jackpod with the Supremo while pressing the remote on my wrist wasn’t the most efficient.
I’ve only used the Supremo 1 on its default settings for both photo and video as you can see in the samples below. I look forward to exploring the different settings as well as the video looping and timelapse. I will also try mounting it and using other types of a tripod.
As for shooting in water or underwater, the Supremo 1 like any other action camera gets moist/fog inside the casing because of the change in temperature. If you want to avoid fogging up your lens and getting a blurred spot on your photo or vid, you can do DIY anti-fog inserts. There are plenty of videos on Youtube if you want to make your own anti-fog inserts.
For the quality, there is noticeable noise/grain for both videos and photos. But this is expected because of its affordable price. Also, Supremo 1’s wide-angle is only 150 degrees, unlike some action cameras that are 170 degrees. If you really want high-quality images and videos, then you better invest in the high-end versions like GoPro.
Besides, there is always post-processing. There are many photo editing apps available for both iOS and Android like VSCO, Snapseed, A Color Story, and Fotor among others. You can also remove the fish-eye/wide angle effect of the photos via post-processing.
**UPDATED (August 2016)
- Lagging/hanging/freezing: I have experienced during continuous use when the Supremo 1 suddenly lags/freezes/hangs and I can’t turn it off or do anything unless I take out the battery. I have since only taken videos up to maximum of 10 secs to prevent these lags.
- Supremo 1 service center: As far as I know, there is no service center here yet for Supremo 1. If your unit is still under warranty, you can contact Kimstore how to process the repair.
- external battery charger: I haven’t used an external battery charger yet but you can try universal battery chargers used by GoPro users or other action cam users. But do make sure to check the power output.
- Rusty Jackpod: After using the jackpod in beach trips for a few times now, I noticed that it’s still prone to rusting even after rinsing the Jackpod in tap water after use in saltwater.

Darlene
February 8, 2017 at 4:14 pmOoh. Hindi ko pa kasi naexperience na nag-lag sya while transferring videos. Baka din sobrang bigat ng file? Usually I only take max of 10 secs per video para hindi masyado mabigat. I don’t use VLC player. Ung video player lang na kasama sa Windows.

January 3, 2017 at 10:32 amI bought mine January 2016. I used it not more than 5 times I guess, twas my first time to own an action cam and got Supremo 1. I wasn’t happy with the quality. Photos and videos are distorted. I dunno, i tried every setting, it doesn’t get any better. It’s been a year and I haven’t actually used it that much. Jackpod and its housing became rusty as well. I now plan to get myself a Gopro Hero5 instead, quality comes with a price but as long as it’s worth it, then why not? This is a very honest and detailed blog and review! Thank you!!!
Darlene
February 8, 2017 at 4:15 pmThanks Dee! YOu are right. If you have the money to spend, I’d say go for the quality. 🙂

Darlene
February 8, 2017 at 4:15 pmHi! They said the 4K is a lot better than the S1. You can also ask other users on the Supremo users FB group.

November 14, 2016 at 11:40 pmHi. I just want to ask since supremo1 is compatible with original go pro mounts and accessories, is it also compatible with the dome port? Coz I’ve been looking for a dome port that fits to my supremo1. Thanks in advance 🙂
Darlene
December 21, 2016 at 4:58 pmAccording to Kimstore, Supremo is compatible with GoPro accessories but I haven’t tried fitting it it. You can also ask the Supremo users facebook group if any of them has experience fitting their Supremo with a dome. 🙂

November 10, 2016 at 10:25 pmIt has great durability, accidentally tripped my sisters supremo 1 from a billiard table to the ground, fortunately everythings fine, although I did it again (this time with the waterproof case) and it broke some small glass pieces(Sloppy me). Now I’m waiting if they’re gonna sell a supremo1 waterproof case only…in the market.
Darlene
December 21, 2016 at 5:00 pmHmm. a lot of people are waiting for accessories too!

December 21, 2016 at 5:01 pmYeah, using a too big memory card can also cause lags according to some users.

Darlene
October 17, 2016 at 12:34 pmMight be the battery or the hardware connecting the battery to the camera. You should contact Kimstore if that’s where you bought it.
Raymund
December 19, 2016 at 10:34 amTry to check the position of the battery, check the diagram in the cover. if doesnt work try the extra battery. If still not working possible hardware issue

September 6, 2016 at 11:48 amThis is great, but I found another good camera, it’s AKASO EK7000 4K wifi sports action camera, cheap and good quality, really worth looking at it, then you can do a different review,it will be great.

July 19, 2016 at 1:02 pmHi, I’m having a problem on the contrast of the videos and photos. Would you know how to adjust the settings? Thank you
Darlene
July 19, 2016 at 3:53 pmHi Jocel! Did you use the recommended settings I’ve indicated here? the default setting of supremo is normally saturated and a bit dark so I usually add +1 to the exposure. What seems to be the problem in yours? 🙂

June 12, 2016 at 8:16 pmHi, does anybody know how to contact the customer services of the manufacturer? I encoutered problem with my Supremo1 when I was charging the battery. When I plugged in the usb charger, not knowing that something got lodged inside the usb tip, the usb port of the camera got damaged and it wont charge the battery anymore. Or, is there a compatible external battery charger available in the market? Thank you for your time. Regards everyone.
Darlene
June 13, 2016 at 9:18 amHi Gabriel! i’ve read from a forum that external chargers work but do take care not to overcharge. You can try external chargers used by GoPro users or other action cam users. As for the USB port, if you bought your unit via Kimstore, I suggest contacting them or try their store in Blue Bay Walk Pasay. Hope this helps!

June 13, 2016 at 11:14 amHi Darlene, thanks for the quick response . I tried my friend’s GoPro hero3 but doesn’t fit, it’s battery is smaller . I’ll look for other GoPro. My unit is a gift and no idea where it was bought. I’m back in London now where I’m based. I’ll keep looking for a charger – and will share it here if successful . Atm my supremo1 is useless. Best regards to you & every1.
Darlene
June 16, 2016 at 3:03 pmHi Gabriel, have you tried using the Smatree battery charger?
Gabriel Dominise
June 17, 2016 at 4:01 pmHi Darlene, unfortunately smatree charger is not available in store here so I cant have a test. However, camcaddy2 did the job. Thanks
Gabriel Dominise
June 15, 2016 at 1:29 amHi Darlene, it’s me again. Finally, today I found the solution to my problem. I bought the CamCaddy2 battery charger. Perfect for S1 battery. But, it’s prone to short circuit coz it’s terminals are movable. It needs to be fixed permanently once aligned with the battery. And, make sure you know the – & + poles. It’s a shame I can’t share the image here. Regards to all. Cheers!

May 20, 2016 at 3:00 pmThis is a pretty decent cam at an affordable price! I’m actually thinking of buying an action cam myself. Will consider this once I’ve saved enough 🙂

May 20, 2016 at 10:57 amThose photos look good! I think this gadget is something my husband would like to have. I’ll share your blog post with him. 🙂 This is a helpful and detailed product review. 🙂

May 20, 2016 at 3:56 amInfairness Dada, for the price of 3800 I’m okay with the quality of the photo and the video. Well, Gopro obviously have higher quality since it comes with the price. So paying a reasonable amount with acceptable quality. In good with Supremo ??
Jessica
May 20, 2016 at 1:47 amVery detailed review. With the trend of travel photograhy, action camera seems to be a must. Great that there’s an affordable one in the market. 🙂

May 19, 2016 at 5:00 pmI use iphone and ASUS to take some of my photos in my blog. So I love how you review this camera. All your photos are beautifully captured especially when the camera is on water. And the cost catches me. Thanks for this.
Berlin
May 19, 2016 at 2:26 pmI use iphone to take photos. But i would love to have my own action camera. Just by looking at the photos, it indeed captured most of the moments and interesting shots iphone camera cant even capture (or maybe i didnt explore every key and button).

May 19, 2016 at 1:54 pmGreat review, dear! I’ve been thinking of getting an action come lately. And this is so affordable but I’m thinking of its durability, hehe. I’ll wait for your updates 🙂 In fairness, the photos and videos are pretty decent.
Maria
May 19, 2016 at 1:35 amSince action cameras are really handy especially for travels or adventures or even work, it’s so nice to know that something that could do so much could be so affordable! The specs are really nice as well as the shots. However, I think it’s kinda short for the warranty period. Anyway, thanks for the great review!
Stella the Travelerette
May 18, 2016 at 10:13 pmWhat a detailed review! I love how you tested the camera under so many different circumstances. I’m a travel blogger, but I use my cell phone camera for everything. I just feel so self-conscious with a camera! But I will come back to this if I ever get a real camera.
ROBERT LEE
May 18, 2016 at 7:12 pmI’d say after reading this post and taking a quick look at the video that for the price, this camera is worth it. I totally agree that there are many things you can do with a smartphone camera, but one of the things it doesn’t do a pretty good job at is action scenes.
Kerr Quevedo
May 18, 2016 at 5:31 pmThis looks like a fine alternative to other mainstream action cameras. It’s affrodable, too.
Thanks for this review! I added some options to which camera I should buy.
